So what’s been happening in my little art world throughout 2021?
Eggs – mainly eggs, a whole metric fuckton of eggs. Which on reflections sounds a hell of a lot like my art world in 2020. So far my plans for art in 2022 are very very egg free!
Back in May, I started painting a daily egg. The inspiration of the egg ranged- from world wide events, state wide events to just things happening in my own little world… from lockdowns, stranded Australians, student climate protests, to the fact the Australian PM is a useless bloody muppet who has failed up his entire career, yes, my little eggs covered a whole range of topics!
I made time lapse videos as I painted the daily eggs. These videos were posted on Instagram (most days this happened, I will admit throughout the months there were a few gaps of no eggs). The whole collection of daily eggs can be seen here.
So my daily eggs have kept me out of mischief for the last few months. But all good things must come to an end – and artwork plans for 2022 are starting to form *makes sneaky plotting noises*. Group exhibitions are on the cards so far, with details to be announced closer to the time.
2021 also saw me re-venture back out with my art into the world of artist markets. This Sunday I will be at the Castlemaine artist market – which is my favourite artist market around! It runs from 9-2pm, at the Western Reserve in Castlemaine. If you find yourself in Central Victoria this Sunday, pop on past (running at the same time across the road is the famers market – so between the two markets, everything is covered!)
Already have plans on Sunday but want some of my art? Well, you are in luck! I currently have a cube filled with them in Incube8r in Fitzroy, and I also have them available on my website.
Onwards and upwards to a more art making.
Cheers, Georgia
