Hello, hello.
How did it end up being September already?
Time is certainly moving quite quickly this year, and I just don’t feel that I have gotten nearly enough of the art I wanted to do actually done. Then again, that seems to be a common feeling each year.
I have recently been working on some pieces for an upcoming ‘Fat Feminism’ exhibition at Noir Darkroom.
The first piece is my own take on modern day mermaids / sirens who lure those who throw insults from their cars to their fates. Creating this image was a lot of fun, as a couple of very awesome friends ventured into the grasslands near my warehouse and let me turn them into mermaid (duct tape is there nothing it can’t do!) I have wanted to make art using the abandoned cars in the grasslands since I first rode past them a few years ago, and they were perfect for this piece.
The second piece is a collaborative artwork I made with a wonderful friend and artist, Fox, which saw us both defiantly step out of our comfort zones in the creating of it! Collaborative artwork brings me much joy, and creating this piece with Fox was no exception. I think 2020 will see us both continue to collaborate on some of the other ideas we were throwing around.
Apologies for the super late notice, but if you find yourself in Coburg tomorrow night come along to the opening; Noir Darkroom, 57 Moreland Road, Coburg 7-9pm. The exhibition runs until the 5th October.
All in all 2019 has been an odd year for art making for me, its been a pretty odd year all round. But 2019 is ending with an adventure for me, and I am heading off spends a few months in an art lock-down in New York. As someone will be using my studio whilst I am away, I have decided this was the perfect time for an open studio spring sale!
What is on offer? A wide variety – photographs, lithographs, drawings and paintings – of art that I have made over the years will be on offer. Some has been exhibited; some has never seen the light of day outside of my studio. Some art was what I use to take to art markets back when I did art markets – there is a good variety on offer!
There will be wine (and non wine), there will be snacks, and there will be witty conversation (well I will try my darndest to provide witty conversation)
If you have been ever considering getting some of my art, this is an ideal chance!
If you are on the look out for affordable gifts for the upcoming gift-giving season – this is for you!
If you just want to have a look through what is normally all just packed away in my studio and have a chat with me about art (and other topics) come along!
The super-open-studio-sale will be on Saturday 9th November from 10am until 4pm at 57 Malcolm Place, Campbellfield.
The gate has a code so please call me on 0411867565 when you are out the front and someone will come out and let you in.
Until then, onwards and upwards for more art adventures.
Cheers, Georgia
