A big hello from the Top End of Australia.
The nomadic artist adventure slowly plods its way around this rather large country. Darwin bound before returning to Melbourne. It is has been a delightful learning curve in ways of creating art whilst on the move – lets just say, the inside of my ute now has paint where paint should never be! There have been many disasters, many mistakes but more importantly much laughter. Some plans have been put on hold, some have been scrapped and others ideas have snuck up on me and have been started.
For those in Melbourne, some of my paintings from the series I started when in Berlin which I have titled: Noah’s Ark V2.0 will be exhibited in an upcoming exhibition at Brunwick Street Gallery from the 24th July to the 6th August. This series of paintings which is still not complete as there are more animals that I keep thinking of that I want to paint, is my thoughts about humans and the planet and how we are really really good at stuffing it up!
Photography wise – there is much happening in my little photography world, but all of that will be announced at a later date. Despite travelling through some wonderful countryside, I still can’t get on the landscape photography bandwagon, so I see myself travelling around photography spider webs and roadside shrines to car accident victims. But the landscapes, the wonderful landscapes I see, those images don’t get taken – they get stored in my brain for me to draw upon in the future for paintings – their colours, shades and the way the light reflects through the Australian landscape and it certainly does make me happy to sit and look out upon it and ponder and think.
Onwards and upwards, and forward to Darwin I go.
May your month be filled with creativity, action and wonderment!
Cheers,
Georgia
