Hello hello,
Fellow Melburnians – how good is the easing of restrictions? I hope by now you have caught up with friends and family and have gone on an adventure beyond your 5 or 25km zone! For those outside of Melbourne – I hope you are going well as well. The easing of restrictions means I am back art-ing at my warehouse once more – which means the music can be cranked and the art mediums can be messy and stinky again! I have plans for a solo exhibition in 2021.

Exhibition wise – I also have a couple of group shows coming up – one in December 2020 and one in January 2021. The details for both will be in next month’s newsletter. I am pretty excited about the return of art exhibitions and galleries being open.

A big thanks to those who have purchased some of the art I released at the end of September. It really does mean a lot of me when I ship my art off to its new life on someone’s walls – so many many thanks to you all! For those wanting to check out what is available – it can be found here.

During October, I got a little obsessed with painting eyeballs. Why eyeballs? 2 reasons mainly: firstly during my 6 weeks in solo iso, I decided I needed some eyeballs for my wall – it just took me a little while before I got them done. But also the topic of cyber security has been slowly appearing in my artwork – and my little eyeballs in embroidery hoops are all related to this theme. (Sidenote – I can’t recall seeing any of the folks who were out protesting the lockdown being out of the streets protesting when the Federal Government passed the laws to start recording our metadata for 2 years or when they passed any of the encryption bills – but, and call me cynical, I don’t think the folks protesting were the sharpest tools in the shed!) Cyber security is a theme that has been slowly recurring in my work (I live with a cybersecurity person so really it is bizarre that is has taken this long before it has started popping up into my work) and I have a feeling that it is going to keep popping up as a theme as we roll into 2021.

So eyeballs! Lots have been painted, and more are currently being worked on (when I get obsessed – I GET OBSESSED!!) I have a bunch of them available at the Fitzroy Incube8r store plus they are available online here. Incube8r is my all time favourite store in Melbourne plus it is my favourite place to exhibit. If you haven’t popped in there – when you next find yourself on Smith Street or Greville Street – pop on in!

Roughly this time last year I had an open studio sale. It was packing up my studio to go away for 3 months and an open studio sale was good ways of helping me clean up the place before I lent my studio to a friend whilst I was away. This year I am doing sometime a little similar, but not quite an open studio (no need to venture out to Campbellfield this year). This year I will be participating in Incube8r’s Cyber Monday sale. (Yes, I know, I know, it is a USA thing). It will be on 30th November – head on over to Incube8r and sign up to get their newsletter to get all the details when it is announced. A bunch of my older paintings will be listed.

So that was October and will be November.  Until December  – I will be tucked up in my studio painting. Hope you have a delightful month.
Cheers, Georgia
