About the artist:
Julie Twomey works predominantly with mixed media on paper with themes based around the idea of a decaying industrial landscape. The artist explores these themes through varied mediums and reclaimed resources from local suburban environments. Interest in capitalism and waste together with readings in ecofeminism fuels her resources and output when creating works. Movements and contortions of the human figure, memories of these positions are distorted with the ageing process triggering varied physiological and psychological experiences. Twomey has exhibited in art exhibitions around Melbourne and currently her explorations of the human figure have entered her landscape visuals.
