These works explore colour, texture, and organic mark-making techniques. They evoke emotional responses through each brush stroke, variations in depth and patterning on the canvas. They are meant to transport the viewer into a vibrant illusion of aesthetic joy.

About the artist:
Emily King is a multidisciplinary artist located in Inner North Melbourne. Originating from Newcastle, NSW, she completed her Bachelor of Fine Art (Hons) at the University of Newcastle. King’s practice explores intersectional feminist, queer issues and disability. Her work has a focus on illustrating the abject, bodily forms and the close relationship between desire and disgust of the female body whilst exploring mark making and pushing the boundaries of materials. King has been exhibiting for over a decade, in NSW, Victoria and internationally.
