Holy Moly – Hasn’t 2020 been an all mighty shit show!

Firstly I hope this email message finds your safe wherever you are in the world in what can only be described as the shit show that is 2020. I don’t want to say the bullshit, over-used statement of ‘WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER’ because as we have seen so far this year – whilst we are all in the same storm, we are all in a variety of different boats. Either way – may your boat be floating as best it can.

For a quick update on my art world since I emailed 12 months ago. I went to North America for 3 months. Whilst there I had a week as an artist in residence in a small town in the Catskills Mountains (which was amazing and wonderful and I got to meet some wonderful people). Then I went onto New York where I spent a couple of months sketching, painting, photographing and generally cramming in as much art and culture as I could.

I came home in early February with a full sketchbook and a list of art ideas that I planned to work on. As was the case for everyone 2020 had difference plans for me. I moved my studio into my garage in early March but put my original ideas aside to work one new ones – although I had spent time at the New York Public Library’s Image Library researching plague doctors for a piece I had plans for – so I guess not all ideas where put on the shelf.

So since March I have been pottering away painting and photographing from my home. And now I am a happy to announce that selections of these works are now available on my website: georgia-laughton.com. So that is what I have been up to. I hope where ever you are you are safe and well.
